How to Back Up and Restore in Cpanel

Cpanel Logo

Cpanel allows you to easily back up your website files, email accounts, and databases. Regular backups protect your data and help you recover quickly in case of any issue.

1. Log in to Cpanel

Go to https://yourdomain.com:2083 and open the “Backup” section from the main menu.

2. Generate a Full Backup

Click “Download a Full Website Backup” and choose a destination:

  • Home Directory: Save backup locally on the server
  • Remote FTP Server: Send backup to an external server
  • Secure Copy (SCP): Use encrypted transfer for security

You’ll receive an email notification once the backup is complete.

3. Partial Backups

If you only need certain data, you can download partial backups for:

  • Home Directory
  • MySQL Databases
  • Email Forwarders
  • Email Filters

4. Restore from Backup

To restore, scroll down to the “Restore” section, upload your backup (.zip or .sql), and click upload. Cpanel will automatically replace the existing files and databases.

5. Automatic Backups

With SosyoHost hosting, automatic daily and weekly backups are already enabled for you. However, taking manual backups provides additional safety.

Note: Ensure you have enough disk space before starting a backup. Storing your backups on external or cloud storage adds an extra layer of data security.
